Apple iPad tablet and the other is causing losses to the global PC market, according to Gartner.

Gartner, on 29/11, has a traditional forecasts of PC shipments in 2011 will be reduced, mainly by the increase of the tablet, like the iPad.
Gartner predicts 352.4 million PCs will ship this year, up 14.3% compared to 2009. Previously, the company had expected PC shipments in 2010 of 17.9%.

"These results reflect the significant decline in PC growth in the short term, by an amount not less, and is growing, users interested in computers as iPad multifunction table," Ranjit Atwal, sub- area at Gartner, said. "In the long term, the versatile tablet PC is expected to take approximately 10% of the PC in 2014."

Another analyst at Gartner, George Shiffler, said that the PC will still be needed for business, but sales will continue to go down - and not just because of competition with the tablet.
